So I am trying new things and this week I am braving Italian Sausage. Tonight was the first time I had every in my life made it, and I have to say that it turned out SO good!
We made brown rice to go with it, but I was good and just had the skillet creation. Will definitely be making this again!

The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-417342315444741222012-06-26T16:07:00.001-07:002012-06-26T16:07:10.619-07:00It's been 4.5 days...and I'm down 1 pound!! Right on track! haha To be honest though, I have not been focused at all, so I'm super lucky to have lost that pound. I will be adding a more significant amount of exercise and working on that willpower! Best Buy had a fantastic Deal of the Day on Friday...Just Dance 3 for $11.99 and shipping was free! And the final nail that sealed the sale for me was they accept Paypal and I happened to have about $15 in mine :) I have been looking to buy Just Dance (didn't care which version) for well over a year, but I had no interest in paying $39.99 (used!). I didn't want it THAT bad. But this one is on its way to me and I can't wait to use it. I love to dance, and even better, the KIDS love to dance...this is something we can do together. Talk about motivation to work out! There is also a very sweet mama from a parenting board that I frequent who is sending me a Yoga workout DVD for free. So I'm hoping to do Yoga in the morning before the kids are up and the baby I watch gets here, and then do the dance during the day or in the evening with the kids.

Diet is a struggle for me. I have such a hard time giving up the food I love....and I LOVE FOOD! I'm hoping to do it one thing at a time...eliminate baked goods, then soda, then heavy carbs, then add in more water, more greens, etc. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-67539693890931657272012-06-21T01:09:00.001-07:002012-06-21T01:09:08.084-07:0030 pounds in 133 days!Since our move, I have slacked on my better eating and exercise...to the point that I gained back 10 of the pounds I had worked so hard to lose! So I'm back to it. We are going to Vegas for a wedding on November 1 and I have exactly 30 pounds to lose to reach my final goal. That's 30 pounds in 133 days. 1 pound every 4.5 days. That's less than 2 pounds a week. I CAN DO IT!! I'm not going to do any fad diets. Just smarter eating and exercise. Cheer me on...I'll update once a week! The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-12451496445027709932012-03-04T21:01:00.002-08:002012-03-04T21:06:04.580-08:00ROAD TRIP!!We are excitedly planning our family vacation. In about 2.5 weeks we will set off on a road trip starting in Orange County, CA. We will travel through Arizona and New Mexico, and then spend several days with good friends in San Antonio, TX. Then we will travel to Oklahoma to see more friends and family. Then heading back on the northern route, visiting the Grand Canyon on the way home. This is so exciting for us...we can't wait! The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-82208707493010114382012-01-15T22:27:00.000-08:002012-01-15T22:33:26.166-08:00Happy Happy Birthday BabyToday is my oldest son Jordan's 4th birthday. Seriously, where does the time go??! They really truly do grow up too fast.

Yesterday we took him to the zoo to celebrate. I didn't have the energy to throw a party and figured this would be much more rewarding for about the same amount of money. We went to the Santa Barbara Zoo and I am thoroughly impressed. Connor was free, of course, but to get tickets for the rest of us, train tickets for everyone, parking, 3 meals, a souvenir, letting Jordan feed the giraffes and gas was UNDER $200!! You can't beat that at all. Then today we just did cake and ice cream and presents here at the house. Very relaxing. I hate the stress that birthday parties cause. All these people in my house, destroying it, eating food that *I* paid for. And then *I* have to clean it all up. No thank you! lol

So all in all I think it was a great birthday for my baby boy. Now to stress about planning Connor's 1st!The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-32877240491530084732012-01-08T14:06:00.000-08:002012-01-08T14:13:06.203-08:00The grocery store scares meSomehow I always end up going over budget...sometimes WAY over. Even when I would make a list, it wasn't really planned out. So for today, I planned out the meals for the next 2 weeks, and as I decided on each meal, I would write down the ingredients I needed for it. That was my shopping list. Then I added the extra things (snacks for the kids, condiments we needed, etc). When I got to the store, I stuck strictly to the list. If it wasn't on there, I didn't buy it! And I carried my calculator with me so that I knew exactly how my total was progressing...no surprises. I had a budget of $200 MAX. I got groceries for 7 people (4 adults and 3 kids) for 2 weeks for $190!!! Super pleased with myself.

We are also starting to stockpile the incidental stuff (toilet paper, laundry soap, dish soap, shampoos, toothpaste, deodorant, etc) because that stuff gets very expensive and we want to make sure we have plenty when we are ready to move, just in case we get in a bind at any point. So I got 2 big bottles of Tide, a big package of Charmin, 2 pouches of Cascade and 2 big bottles of Pantene for only $60! Combining Stater Bros coupons with manufacturer coupons, I saved over $20 on just those items! Going back Tuesday before the store coupons expire to get more! The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-52992379722069412092012-01-07T20:28:00.001-08:002012-01-07T20:45:15.458-08:00Window Shopping makes me anxious...After Jeremy graduates in May, he'll get a full time job while we wait on a decision from the Navy, and we will be moving back into our own place. Definitely a rental, but hopefully a house :) When we moved out of our place last summer, we sold/gave away everything except the boys' bunk bed, so we will need to buy all new. We did this because 1) we did not want to have to store it all and 2) everything we had was used even before we got it. Our bed I got off Freecycle when I was still with my ex, our couches we paid a whole $100 for the pair, our dining set (I use that loosely) was a thoughtful hand-me-down from my sister, and it was used when she got it! Plus, having only lived in apartments, we didn't have a fridge or washer and dryer at all. So, we'll be saving for the next several months to purchase a whole new house of goodies! Today we went to shop around to see what we want and get an idea of where our price point is, that way we know how much we need to be saving.

It's exciting because we will have nice, good quality items that match and that WE picked out and no one else has used before! The thought of spending that much money is a little nauseating lol But, at least we are planning ahead. And, depending on what they can offer us, we may do one of their no interest financing options and then pay it off using the savings. This way we're building more credit too.

I'm excited for the next several months to pass so we can get back into our own space and get our lives started again! :)The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-23111958753579318552012-01-06T15:40:00.000-08:002012-01-06T15:42:08.365-08:00A photo a day...I have committed to do Project 365 (or since it's leap year, 366) this year. For those who don't know, it's taking, and posting, a photo every day for a whole year. I really hope I can keep up with this! I've never been very good at following through with things. :(

Here is the link to my Project! :) http://365project.org/sailorsgirl08/365The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-74754021772486278842011-12-31T11:19:00.000-08:002011-12-31T11:32:00.581-08:00And a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!2011 was a rollercoaster for us, to say the very least. At the lowest point, I lost my job. At the highest, we welcomed our precious son Connor. And many other peaks and valleys surrounding those events. In spite of the curveballs we have been thrown, we made it through stronger than ever. Our biggest goal for 2012 is to be prepared. We will focus on our savings to ensure that we have a strong buffer, just in case we are ever put in a rough patch again. We will focus on debt (or rather, eliminating it) so that our expenses are minimal. I'm going to spend the year shopping clearance sales at various points to get Jordan's next clothing size(s) so that we're not hit with that cost all at once. Thankfully, my boys are not too rough on their clothes yet, so they can all be passed down to the younger 2, and still be in good enough shape to pass on to someone else.

Before the year is done, we will have made a final decision on baby #4. If we're going to do it, we don't want a huge gap, so we would start trying before 2012 is over. If we decide we are done, we'll take permanent action for that.

The events of the next several months will dictate a lot of our future. If Jeremy is able to get his packet submitted to the Intelligence Officer program, then we will know in March if the Navy is in our immediate future. If not, we will start looking at our alternatives so we can hit the ground running when he graduates in May.

I am looking into all options of going back to work, which is difficult with 3 small children. Hoping to find something that will work with our schedules and hopefully be in a field that I find stimulating. My dream job is to be a bank teller...which I know isn't a particularly high paying job, but I know I would love it.The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-38580236657157686202011-12-04T21:07:00.000-08:002011-12-04T21:17:41.251-08:00Trying to find my grooveIt has been a full 4 months since we moved to my mom's, and to say I've been in a funk would be a gross understatement. I just couldn't seem to find my stride with cleaning and taking care of 3 kids. I cooked nightly as a way to earn my keep, but spent most of my time on the computer and/or watching TV while keeping half an eye on my kids in the next room. When Jordan started school, things did improve. I had a few hours 2 days a week to get stuff done. Logan is easily entertained by Blues Clues, so I was able to accomplish some stuff at home. Or I could go to the store, which is FAR easier with only 2 kids. Adding in that 3rd body, who argues over everything and fights with his younger brother, creates chaos.

Then a couple weeks ago I started my new "chore chart". My tasks are broken down into only a couple things each day throughout the week. Then the big tasks are split up into a couple items per week and done once a month. So far so good! Our rooms and bathroom have stayed very clean and I feel better just by being productive. And this system allows for a missed day...whether for laziness or absence...because it's easy to play catch up when you only have to add an extra 1 or 2 things. Hopefully I can stay on track, and transfer this system to our own home someday soon. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-34825902720700160382011-12-03T21:14:00.000-08:002011-12-03T21:24:22.447-08:00Learning self controlor rather, learning that I have none! I finished the last of my Christmas shopping today and wow. Let's just say that excessive is an understatement. Yes, I am thrilled that we are financially able to give our children and loved ones generous gifts, but I still need to learn to draw the line. Maybe next year? lol

I was good and bought useful items and things they need rather than just toys. They are each getting 2 toys from Santa. The rest is clothing/books/bath stuff/etc. Now I just have to wrap it all...oh joy! That's a project for next week. haha

My goal for tonight is to finish my Christmas cards...already in the Ts, so that should be doable. Tomorrow lots of laundry and cleaning. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-311149666714442822011-11-26T20:32:00.000-08:002011-11-26T20:36:44.729-08:00Absence makes the heart grow fonder...I have to keep reminding myself of this. Jeremy and I decided that moving me and the kids to my mom's while he finished his last year at CSUFullerton was the best option. It definitely made the most sense on paper. And we figured it would be good practice for deployments. It's been really tough though. We see each other as often as we can...far more now that haunt season is over. And we have been blessed to have him here with us since Thursday of LAST week. It has really been great. He has to go back tomorrow, but there are only 3 weeks left in the semester. Then he'll be here with us from Dec 16 til Jan 22!! We can't wait! The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-7820656697382281422011-11-20T21:02:00.000-08:002011-11-20T21:38:07.245-08:00What are YOU thankful for??In a world where we can so easily get caught up in the day to day chaos, it's important to take the time to think about what we have. So much is taken for granted. What ever happened to appreciating life and everything, and everyone, in your life?! I challenge everyone to come up with at least one thing a day that you are thankful for, even if it's silly. Get yourself back in the habit of recognizing the beauty in our world.

Today I am thankful for Pinterest. There are so many creative people out there (I am NOT one of them) and it's such a blessing to be able to get ideas like this all in one place. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-89219710505413802192010-11-01T23:15:00.001-07:002010-11-01T23:30:21.715-07:00It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...Well, at work anyway. I would love to decorate at home, but alas, Jeremy says I must wait. Haha But we reset the store today...I swear when you work retail, the day after Halloween is Christmas! It bothers some, but I love it!

We had a wonderful Halloween in our house. Took the boys Trick-or-Treating. It was Jordan's first time (and Logan's, but sitting in the stroller doesn't really count) and he made out like a bandit!! After each house he said "We have to go get more candy!" It was so cute.

I had my 12 week doctor appointment today...officially in the 2nd trimester! Got to hear the baby's heartbeat...still very fast. My belly is measuring right on track and I haven't gained any weight yet! We scheduled our gender ultrasound for December 23 so we can announce for Christmas. We are so excited! We also have out anatomy scan next Thursday. This is where they check for markers for Downs Syndrome and Spina Bifida. I am at almost 0 risk for either, and we would not terminate based on those results. We would just prefer to be prepared in advance, rather than surprised on delivery day. There are no guarantees, but it will help ease our minds. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-36103908948695260242010-09-23T22:01:00.000-07:002010-09-23T22:19:37.258-07:00Changes are coming! So hard to believe September is already rapidly coming to a close! Where has this year gone??

Big news in our house, for those who don't already know. Baby #3 will be here in May!! We are very very excited (now that the shock has worn off haha). We are not going to make any major decisions in regards to vehicles or living situation until Spring. Regardless of gender, we'll put the boys together, but we are unsure of where we'll ultimately be living. Luckily, we just signed a 12 month lease, so we have until next summer to make a decision.

Jeremy is well into his fall semester of his junior year. All is well so far and it looks as though he should be able to complete his Bachelor's Degree in the fall of 2011!

The boys are growing so fast. Logan just had his 9 month check up and is 18.4lbs and 28.75inches...most certainly very long and lean like his Uncle Eric and Uncle Bronson! He stands up on his own and is cruising around everything. His doctor agrees, he'll be walking before his first birthday! Jordan is growing like a weed. Already over 3 feet tall. His vocabulary is so extensive and his intelligence amazes me daily.

We are already in holiday mindset in our house. Halloween decorations are up, which is totally putting me in the fall spirit. I can't wait for Christmas this year. We are more than halfway done with our shopping already and I am feeling so prepared and happy. Very much looking forward to giving gifts this year. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-46003147620245004982010-09-08T19:22:00.000-07:002010-09-08T19:34:32.259-07:00Our First PlaydateI joined a local Meet-Up group in order to get the kids out more and for us all to makes some friends. So today I dragged us to the park for a playdate. Only 2 other moms made it, but it was really nice to meet them both. And they each have a son Jordan's age, which was wonderful! He made 2 new friends, as did I! Hopefully I can make it to another get together soon. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-50087449095412262882010-09-06T22:20:00.000-07:002010-09-06T22:25:14.253-07:00Happy Labor DayHope everyone had an excellent holiday. We had a good weekend, though mostly uneventful. My only day off was Sunday. The boys went with Pappy and Granny Cindy to the Aquarium and a farm. They had such a great time! We had the opportunity to see two good friends get married and it was such a moving and beautiful experience.

I can't believe it's already September...where has the year gone??! I am busily preparing Christmas present ideas. I refuse to be caught off guard and be strapped for cash. The boys are done (thanks to Swagbucks) and several others are done as well. I hope to be done by Thanksgiving so we aren't doing any last minute shopping. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-62261421990440743552010-08-16T21:42:00.001-07:002010-08-16T21:46:38.495-07:00We're in trouble now...Earlier tonight I put Logan on the floor to play since we were watching a movie (we don't keep anything on the floor, so he wasn't in any danger). Several minutes pass and we both realize he's nowhere to be found. Mild panic sets in and we check Jordan's room first. He had crawled in there and was playing happily with Jordan's toys. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-486536884301626992010-08-11T19:50:00.000-07:002010-08-11T20:01:30.229-07:00Here for another year, at leastSo a year has passed already and the time has come to sign another lease for our apartment. They did not change the rent at all, so we decided to stay for another year! It makes me very happy. I like stability and don't enjoy moving around. They even cleaned our carpets at no charge, so yesterday we got up early and rearranged our whole house so that we could take full advantage of it. Jordan's room and the living room did not have a single thing left in them. The dining room just had the hutch, Logan's room just the crib and our room just our bed. The carpets look great and are so nice an fluffy. Hopefully, we will be able to stay here for our duration in CA, but we will have to see what next year brings.

Jordan has finally mastered the potty and we are in underwear all day, including nap time. We just need to get him dry overnight and we'll be set. But our biggest challenge was poop and he seems to have gotten the hang of that this week.

Logan is officially crawling...Lord help us! He is such a happy child though and a joy to have. Most nights he sleeps through the night. There are a few exceptions, but he's getting better. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-59161451607984254112010-07-27T12:24:00.000-07:002010-07-27T13:35:37.407-07:00The Wedding Bells have chimed!Well, now that all the wedding nonsense is over and done with, we can get back to reality. The final days leading up to the wedding were a big blur. So much to do and not nearly enough time. The day Julie arrived, we made it a point to simply pamper ourselves. We knew that once the wedding stuff started, that would be it. So, we got our nails done, pedicures and went to the spa. It was wonderful to spend time with her, just the two of us.

Thursday was a whole different story. We drove to my mom's first thing in the morning and got started on the last minute to-do list. Little things like folding the programs and stuffing the place-card holders. Then Thursday evening my girls (most of them) took me out for an awesome bachelorette party! We had soooo much fun!

Friday was a whirlwind. I really have no idea how people get married in the morning. Our wedding was at 7pm and we STILL didn't get everything done! In terms of the ceremony, just about everything that could have gone wrong, did. But, all in all it was a gorgeous ceremony and we were so lost in each other that we hardly noticed.

The reception was held in my parents' back yard and was perfect. All went off without a hitch and everyone had a great time! We received many very generous gifts and enjoyed the company of all our family and friends.

Saturday we headed home to take Julie to the airport and then headed to Palm Springs. It wasn't a honeymoon...we'll be taking that next year. But we got a little getaway. Had a great time and I even got a massage.

Today is my last day off of work...really makes me sad. I love my job, but I can't wait to be home with my family more. Pictures of the wedding are coming, as soon as we receive them. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-76350966082793802782010-07-03T11:00:00.000-07:002010-07-03T11:14:45.450-07:00Long time no blogWell, it's been a while, but there hasn't been much to report. We're nearly done with everything we need to do for the wedding. We'll meet with our florist next week, and then all we need is the food, which we can do the week of. I'm thrilled that it's so soon...only 20 days to go. All the guys have been fitted for their tuxes, which is a huge relief. And I bought all the cake supplies yesterday. Will be making that next weekend after my shower.

The boys are doing well. Jordan has been in underwear for weeks now, but we still use diapers for nap/bedtime. He hasn't quite gotten the hang of that yet. And he seems to save poop for the diapers. Really unsure of how to break that habit and get him to go in the toilet.

We're hanging out with Uncle Mike and Auntie Adrienne today...probably heading to Boomers for some miniature golf! The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-35774952382737099612010-06-21T22:50:00.000-07:002010-06-21T23:02:41.021-07:00Growing like a weedLogan has his 6 month check-up this morning. He is just over 16 pounds and 27 inches long! His doctor says he's going to be tall...he is VERY long and thin, but growing well. Hard to believe he is already 6 months old. He is dying to crawl, but can't quite get the hang of it. Soon enough though. Still no teeth, but they MUST be coming soon...he's a drool machine. The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-92129037548215632152010-06-20T22:55:00.000-07:002010-06-20T23:04:09.690-07:00Moving ForwardSo Jordan is officially daytime potty trained. This is a huge success story for us. I remember just a few weeks ago, feeling like he would be in diapers forever. We are going at the nighttime thing cold turkey tonight. He wanted to wear his underwear, so we let him. I don't think it will take more than a few days to have the nighttime taken care of as well. We are very proud parents!

Our meeting with Fr Tom went well. He approved our music list. This was a victory for sure...apparently it's a first for the church to allow a CD instead of just using the organist! All of our music is appropriate, of course. But we were still concerned. We've received ALMOST all of the RSVPs, and we're looking at about 110 people...WOW! We need to meet with our florist this week and hash out the specifics on the flowers. Down to only 33 days!!!The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-31931915044347921732010-06-15T23:45:00.000-07:002010-06-15T23:48:01.031-07:00Big Success StoryWe had a GREAT potty day today! Not one single accident. Every time he had to go, he told daddy, and off they went. We've (well, daddy) discovered that he does much better when he isn't being watched. So, we get him situated, then leave the room and wait for the "I'm going pee-pee!!" and then help him aim properly. So proud of my big boy!! He got so many stickers today that we ran out of spots on the chart! The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2959006141308595496.post-50711548437998344462010-06-12T13:55:00.001-07:002010-06-12T14:00:01.278-07:00On the right trackWe had a good day yesterday. Jordan only had one accident. He's getting to be such a big boy! Logan appears to be teething and has become cranky and a drool machine! I really hope these teeth cut soon...I want my happy boy back!

I received a shipping notice yesterday for our wedding favors. I cannot wait for those to arrive so we can start putting them together. We meet with Fr Tom on Tuesday to work out the vows and all the ceremony bits. I can't believe we've got less than 6 weeks to go!!The Gray Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02820306730158227965noreply@blogger.com0
